An Inability To See Quick Results
You shouldn't feel that you can take a quick jog, weigh yourself when you get home, and see that you've lost a few pounds. Rather, weight loss is a gradual process, so it's important to be patient. You aren't going to see quick results, but that doesn't mean that you won't reach your goals. It's reasonable to aim for losing one or two pounds a week; this means that weighing yourself daily may not be the best idea, as you're unlikely to see changes in your weight on a day-by-day basis. Instead, it may be better to weigh yourself once a week and note the change.
A Cheat Day
Whether you're exercising more, changing your diet, or using a combination of the two, you should avoid feeling discouraged if you have a cheat day. For example, you miss a day at the gym or you attend a party and eat and drink more than you'd like. It may be tempting to let this instance throw you off your goals, but it's important to stay encouraged. A cheat day here and there won't have a huge impact in the grand scheme of things, so you can rebound from the day by making sure to exercise and eat well the following day. Doing so will quickly help you forget about your cheat day.
Faster Results From Others
You should try to avoid getting discouraged if others are losing weight faster. This comparison can occur if you and several peers are working out and comparing results. Everyone burns calories at different rates, which means that some people may indeed lose weight faster than you. This, however, doesn't mean that you won't hit your goals. Additionally, people who are heavier may have greater ease losing weight than those who are lighter. For example, someone who is 300 pounds may lose five pounds in a week simply by making dietary changes; if you weigh 180 pounds, losing five pounds in a week may be impractical.
